A bride struck back at her cheating partner in the best, and most public, way possible.Wedding days are meant to be joyful events where the bride and groom share their love with their gathered family and friends. But nothing ruins a beautiful wedding day quite like the discovery of infidelity. One bride had a particularly interesting response to learning of her husband-to-be’s infidelity.Jilted lovers are nothing new, but this way of handling cheating just might be.Scorned lovers have done quite a few wild things to punish their cheating partners, but what this bride did might just take the cake. The couple had been in a relationship for years, but the day before her wedding,
she received a text that changed it all.Casey, who used a pseudonym for herself and fiancé Alex, was out with her bridesmaids when she received texts containing several screenshots. The screenshots came from an unknown number.Along with the texts, the number cryptically wrote, “I wouldn’t marry him. Will you?”Surrounded by her friends, Casey wasn’t sure how to proceed with the information she was given. The incriminating texts showed that Alex had allegedly been having an affair with another woman for months before his wedding to Casey.“This weekend. You and I. It is on, hot stuff. Bring your A game,” read one text.Devastated, Casey read on with her bridesmaids.“Your body is f**king incredible. And s**t do you know how to use it. I wish my GF had half the skills you do,” read another.“I miss you so much. I can’t stop thinking about L, S, F’ing you. I’ve never had this kind of connection before,” read a third.Horrible texts to receive anytime, but especially on the night before your wedding! In an essay for Body+Soul, Casey wrote; “I burst into shamed and broken tears, my girls were threatening all manner of violence against him. They insisted I call him immediately and call the wedding off.”She wrote, “The texts were dated from months to only days before. My brain simply could not compute WTF was going on.”“But I loved Alex. I wanted to marry Alex tomorrow. I was too shocked and sad to be angry. I didn’t call him.”She continued, “Eventually, we tried to go to bed. I didn’t sleep a wink and when dawn finally broke I awoke the girls and told them my decision – I was going to go ahead with the wedding as expected, and ‘out’ him in front of our friends and family.”Casey’s decision wasn’t one she took lightly, and isn’t one most people would have the guts to make!Casey took it in her own hands to punish her fiancé after receiving these texts. In front of the entire gathering and her wedding party, Casey read out the texts she had received. In place of her vows, she started in on the texts.“It seems Alex is not who I thought he was. I love all of you and as horrible as this is I’m glad you all are here,” she said.“There will not be a wedding reception today, but instead, there will be a celebration of honesty, finding true love, and following your heart even when it hurts,” she finished. The groom ‘stalked out of the church with his best man trailing behind him’ after hearing what his bride-to-be said. The wedding, obviously, was off.“It was certainly not the wedding day I had planned, but to our credit, it was one hell of a party,” Casey said at the end of her essay.
