Goldie Hawn is a beaming ray of sunshine in Hollywood.
The 78-year-old actress has been gracing screens since the late 1960s when she first impressed audiences with her televised comedy sketch program as well as playing a supporting role in the Academy Award-winning “Cactus Flower.” She followed this by appearing in many beloved movies throughout the next few decades and continues to work in the entertainment industry to this day.
Meanwhile, off-screen, her enduring nearly 40-year long relationship with Kurt Russell, 70, has warmed the hearts of fans all over the world. Their adorable and loving relationship is evidently sweet, with the obvious affection they have for each other more akin to a group of teenage sweethearts than a couple that’s been together for 38 years.
While the couple continued working prolifically in Hollywood after they got together, they also placed a lot of importance on family. Their blended family consists of children they each brought to their union from previous marriages, as well as one son they had together. In fact, three of their four children actually followed their famous parents’ footsteps and ventured into the acting industry.
Something truly remarkable about Hawn is her effervescent beauty, from her vibrant personality and kind heart, to how beautiful her appearance is. Hawn is a stunner at any age and while wearing any kind of makeup or fashionable attire but is just as stunningly gorgeous even with no makeup on at all. When she was 74, Hawn posted a photo that has proven that she is still an absolute stunner.
Early Beginnings

Hawn has easily become a household name over her many years in the entertainment industry. Born on Nov. 21, 1945, in Washington, D.C., Hawn had one sister growing up and was raised Jewish. Showing true talent and ambition from an early age, she began taking dance lessons when she was three years old and even appeared in a few stage productions as a child.
By the time she was 19, she had run and taught at a ballet school after she’d dropped out of studying drama at university. Hawn worked as a professional dancer before she moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1966, working as both a dancer and playing small roles on television. Her dance background clearly helped her establish a strong presence when performing that worked to her advantage in her career.
Following her move to Los Angeles, Hawn didn’t go unnoticed for long before she was soon seen as an “It” girl of the 1960s. She was cast to play the stereotypical dumb blonde in a number of roles and was landed the role of a regular cast member on the sketch comedy show “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In,” which aired from 1968 until 1973.
After working as an actress on television for a few years, she shifted her career focus and headed for the big screen. One of her first roles in the film industry was in the 1969 film “Cactus Flower,” which earned her an Academy Award win for Best Supporting Actress. This set her career in motion, helping the star quickly establish herself and really make her name known in Hollywood.
Her Impeccable Filmography

Over the next few decades, her filmography grew to include all genres of films, but it was clear that her specialty was in comedy. She was also nominated one more time for an Oscar in 1981 for “Private Benjamin,” but didn’t take home the award. Hawn has continued to show off her wide array of talents for many years through a long list of films she has starred in.
In the 1990s, she starred in the commercially successful comedy “Bird on a Wire,” as well as the drama “Death Becomes Her,” which also featured Bruce Willis and Meryl Streep. Starring opposite Bette Midler and Diane Keaton, Hawn was a show-stopper in the critically successful film “The First Wives Club.” In 1999, she starred in a remake of the 1970 Neil Simon hit, “The Out-of-Towners.” Other well-known roles of hers over the years include “Shampoo” from 1975, “Overboard” in 1987, and “The Banger Sisters” in 2002.
In more recent years, Hawn has continued to grace our screens with her incredible acting abilities. Since the 2010s, the star has only been in a few projects but has still continued to amaze fans and critics alike with her great performances. In 2013, she lent her voice to portray the role of Peggy McGee in an episode of the Disney animated series “Phineas and Ferb.” In 2017, she made her return to the big screen alongside Amy Schumer in the comedy “Snatched,” and also narrated the film “SPF-18.” In 2018, Hawn made a cameo as Mrs. Claus in the Netflix film “The Christmas Chronicles,” and played the role again in its 2020 sequel, “The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two,” this time in a starring role.
Searching For Love

Hawn’s romantic history tells as much a story of her life as her professional career does. Her first marriage was to a dancer named Gus Trikonis. The couple got married in 1969 but unfortunately split up in 1973. She continued to search for love and dated a few other people before she met Bill Hudson, a singer from the Hudson Brothers. The couple got married in 1976 and had two children together, Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson. However, their marriage did not last, and they ultimately divorced in 1980.
Just a few years later, in 1983, Hawn began dating fellow actor Kurt Russell. However, this was not the first time that they had met. In fact, their history is what makes their love story all the more wonderful and beautiful to witness. Initially meeting in 1966 on the set of a Disney movie titled “The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band,” it would be nearly two decades later when they worked together on the movie “Swing Shift” in 1983, leading to them finally getting together. It appeared that their age difference was the problem when they first met, as Hawn revealed much later in a BBC interview, and said:
“I was 21 and he was 16. I thought he was adorable, but he was much too young. Then, years later we met up again, and I remembered that I liked him very much when I first met him. We both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell.”
The Importance Of Family

After getting together, Hawn and Russell became completely inseparable as a couple and would even star in more movies together later on, including “Overboard” in 1987. The movie went on to be a huge success, and the happy couple even starred in a handful of other films together throughout their careers.
Before he began his relationship with Hawn in 1983, Russell was married to actress Season Hubley for a few years. Together they had one son named Boston. Famously, Hawn and Rusell brought their children from their previous marriages together and started their blended family. In 1986, the couple had a child of their own, Wyatt Russell, bringing their brood to four.
Hawn and Russell are famous for their blended family and how close they all are. Spending quality time together has been crucial to their family dynamic and is one of their priorities in life. Russell spoke more about this during an interview with Closer Weekly in 2018. “We always trim the tree on Christmas Eve, and we have a big meal,” he said. The grandkids put their pajamas on and hang up their stockings. We get the fire going, and when it gets dark, we always choose someone to read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.’”
With such a tight-knit family, it’s pretty unsurprising that many of Hawn and Russell’s children have followed in their footsteps and gone into show business themselves. In fact, all of their kids except Boston have entered the entertainment industry, making a name for themselves in the process.
Why They Won’t Get Married

Although the family is of the utmost importance to the couple, their relationship is a bit interesting in the fact that they have chosen to never get married. Hawn openly discussed the topic in a 2007 interview with Woman’s Day magazine, explaining why exactly she doesn’t expect to head down the aisle to marry Russell. “Because we have done just perfectly without marrying,” Hawn explained. “I already feel devoted and isn’t that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, caring and loving, then we’re fine.”
While speaking with Woman’s Day, Hawn also mentioned their children and blended family and how she and Russell have managed to raise them into “beautiful people.” “We did a great job there, and we didn’t have to get married to do that,” she explained.” “I like waking up every day and seeing that he is there and knowing that I have a choice. There is really no reason to marry.”
Considering theirs is one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting relationships, they’ve clearly proven their point that marriage is unnecessary for their relationship, as long as there is love, respect, and mutual compassion for one another. Russell even weighed in on the topic in an interview with the Daily Mail in 2018 and said:
“Everyone has their marker on what is really important and where you draw the line. For Goldie and me, that core value was this: the kids come first. That big movie I turned down came at an age when they really needed one of us around.”
The Goldie Hawn Foundation

The family is not just beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well. The women in the family have both worked with different charities and organizations, bringing awareness to social issues important to them. Hawn started The Goldie Hawn Foundation, which helps children focus on education by providing emotional and social learning programs to aid along the way. The foundation’s focus is to help children feel less pressured and stressed with outside factors in their lives, so they are better able to focus on their education and build a strong future for themselves.
The main program associated with The Goldie Hawn Foundation is MindUP. According to the MindUP website, the program is based in neuroscience and works to give “children the knowledge and tools they need to manage stress, regulate emotions and face the challenges of the 21st century with optimism, resilience and compassion.” A message from Hawn left on the site depicts her reasoning behind starting the program. She believes that children are the foundation for creating a better tomorrow. In order to help make the future better, children need to be given access to resources to help them learn how to cope with their negative feelings and actions.
As well as sitting on the board of directors of MindUP, Hawn’s daughter Kate has also worked as an ambassador for WildAid, a foundation dedicated to protecting wildlife and reducing the demand for what animals can provide. The foundation has a list of celebrity ambassadors who work to raise awareness through their personal platforms as well as professional campaigns.
How She Looks Without Makeup

While Hawn has been seen in a plethora of films and television shows, she has continued to look absolutely amazing and truly has a heart of gold. The star is no stranger to having her picture taken and has also uploaded some beautiful ones of herself over the years on her Instagram. Whether she has a full face of makeup, minimal and natural makeup, or no makeup on at all, Hawn always looks incredibly flawless.
Throughout her time in the spotlight, Hawn has been seen a handful of times without any makeup on. While she is known for being effervescent and effortlessly beautiful, Hawn has also shown that she’s just as normal and down-to-earth as anyone else. However, not everyone gets snapped by the paparazzi on a typical day out like the actress since she is typically so recognizable.
What’s her secret to looking so gorgeous at any age? “I don’t do much. I was using coconut oil for a while on my face,” Hawn told ET Canada. She also has a healthy mindset. While explaining her Monday morning routine, Hawn said: “(The first thing I do is) say some affirmations, which is how my day is going to be — it’s going to be great — take a lot of deep breaths; I breathe big, deep breaths, hold it — especially if I’m feeling sleepy — and, after about four breaths, my eyes just pop right open. Oxygen is a big deal.”
With such a healthy and beautiful lifestyle and mindset, it’s no wonder how Hawn has stayed so gorgeous — both inside and out — for so long.Goldie Hawn (2019), (BG004/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images/Getty Images)
