I am 16, I think my aunt is my birth mother, we look exactly alike and we have more in common.

I want to take a DNA test, how do I do this without telling my mom or aunt?

When I went to England at age 12 I met my father’s sister for the first time.

I could tell she was related immediately. Same smile as my sister and me.

Who also look alike.

We also share some similarities in personality although my aunt was not musical and my sister and I enjoy playing an instrument.

At my wedding people thought she was my mother. I have a photo somewhere that shows the three lookalikes together.

It’s not that I don’t look at all like my mother at all but for whatever reasons the looks genes for my sister and I have both fallen heavily on my paternal side and in particular in the same way as Dad’s younger sister.

In fact we look more like her than her own two children.

Ironically her son does not look like Dad but has the same voice.

I thought it was my father calling me when he was trying to obtain my attention. Such is how genetics work.

Honestly this is not uncommon.

By the same token when I perused Ancestry DNA I found a cousin of my Grandfather who looked like my father.

Dad looked like his father but this man bore a closer resemblence.

Enjoy your aunt.

Mine was very special to my sister and I and despite living at the opposite ends of the globe formed a close relationship.
