The skydiving community is mourning the loss of 28-year-old instructor Devrey Jane LaRiccia-Chase, who tragically died after a freak accident during a jump at Skydive Perris, California. LaRiccia-Chase was caught in a rare “dust devil” while landing, causing her parachute to spin uncontrollably.

Despite surviving the fall, she later passed away from her injuries.

Her husband, athlete Freddy Chase, shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, calling her his “soul, love, and everything.” In the wake of her passing, her family launched a GoFundMe to bring her body back to Maine, which has raised over $53,000.
